JASMINE RIVERA      

Writer, Director and Producer

JASMINE RIVERA (Director) is a film and theatre director, writer, producer, and actor from Detroit. As a narrative filmmaker she has directed and produced narrative and documentary films including Nain Rouge, which won awards for Best Short Film and Best Director and screened at film festivals around the country, as well as her narrative short, American Prophet, set in 1968 Detroit and based on the true story of peacemaker Bishop Thomas Gumbleton. Michigan theatre directing credits include Mrs. Harrison and The Cake at Williamston Theatre (Wilde Award winner for Best Play and Best Director) as well as The Chinese Lady (Tipping Point Theatre) and the upcoming A Case for the Existence of God (Williamston Theatre). Jasmine was a Junior Professional Media Fellow at the United Nations University and a Detroit Sundance Screenwriters Lab Fellow. A recipient of a 2014 Kresge Arts Fellowship Award, she earned her Masters in Fine Arts in Film Directing at Columbia University in the City of New York.

SUZANNE SATTLER, IHM    

Executive Producer and Community Advisor                     

Suzanne Sattler, IHM, is a resident of Detroit since 1968, where she ministered as a teacher and then as an attorney in the public policy areas of health care, aging and environmental sustainability. Sister Sue served in solidarity with the people of El Salvador for over thirty-five years and is the co-author of No Guilty Bystander: The Extraordinary Life of Bishop Thomas Gumbleton alongside Frank Fromherz.
